We always get excited when celebrities buy limited edition Ferrari vehicles. Here at Boardwalk Ferrari we are happy to announce that Golf star, Ian Poulter, has added another Ferrari to his collection of super-fast, luxury sports cars. Which Ferrari model recently joined the Ryder Cup hero's collection? Well, none other than the Ferrari 288 GTO.
The red hot Ferrari 288 GTO was sold for £650,000 and Poulter tweeted how he was, "very, very excited" about getting behind the wheel of a "true Italian 1980s supercar."1 The Ferrari 288 GTO can go 188 mph and was the fastest car in the world when it went on sale in the 1980s. The 1980s supercar boasts a 2.8-liter V8 engine and has 400 horsepower and can reach 0-60 mph in 4.8 seconds. Poulter's latest edition to his collection will be shipped from the U.K to Florida where the golfer currently resides.
The lightweight glass fiber and Kevlar body shell, in addition to the revised chassis, allowed the Ferrari 288 GTO to become an instant hit. The GTO was originally designed to compete as a race car but, it was decided to keep the Ferrari 288 GTO as a street car.
Since Ferrari only produced 272 Ferrari 288 GTOs they
are highly coveted and attractive to long-time Ferrari fans and enthusiast. But
