Recently, Ferrari provided new details about the upcoming Ferrari 296 GT3 race car. The new 296 GT3 will be based upon the current Ferrari 296 GTB. It will be powered by a turbocharged V6 hybrid engine similar to the powertrain found in the 296 GTB.

Ferrari announced that French racing manufacturer Oreca would build the race car for competition. Oreca last built GT racing cars back in the late 1990s that went on to huge success, winning races worldwide.

The new 296 GT3 will replace the highly successful Ferrari 488, a mainstay in sportscar racing dating back to 2016. Last year, it took home top honors by winning a 24-hour endurance racing at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.

The new Ferrari 296 GT3 is slated to make its track debut in 2023 and will look to compete in the world-famous 24 Hours of Le Mans race in 2024.
