There are a few things that we hope we never, ever have to do, and abandoning our luxury sports car in a sewage-flooded underground tunnel is one of them (and we're sure that all of our Boardwalk Ferrari customers in Dallas would agree). Canadian lawyer Howard Levitt had to do exactly this, though, and while he lived to tell the tale, his 2010 Ferrari California sadly did not.
Last month, raw sewage burst into the Lower Simcoe tunnel by the Toronto airport, and Levitt, along with many other drivers and passengers, was forced to abandon his vehicle as the waters rose. We're sure it wasn't easy to say goodbye to his prized vehicle, but he had a court appearance the next morning, so Levitt hoped in a cab and made his way to the airport, where he learned that all flights had been cancelled. Undeterred, he made his way to the next airport, got a flight, and was in Ottawa in time to help his client. Now, that's dedication!
It wasn't long before he was on the hunt to replace his ride, and he had his eye on the 2014 Ferrari California in the same metallic blue color as the one that met its demise on July 8th. When he visited his local dealership, the automaker was already well acquainted with his plight, and offered him a generous gift to help with the cost of his new model, which is estimated to be over $300,000.
We're sure he is more than satisfied with his new supercar, especially since the 2014 edition is even more powerful than models built before 2013. It has a 4.3-liter V8 engine that generates 490 horsepower and 373 lb-ft. of torque.
